Corporate Spelling Bee
was a huge success!
Congratulations to Lawrence University, our 2010 & 2011Corporate Spelling Bee Champions!

Few trends start out in elementary school and bubble up to adult activities, but that's the path spelling bees have taken. Inspired by the globally recognized Scripps competition exclusively for youngsters, spelling bees have become local events, fundraisers and intellectual competitions that combine learning with fun for all ages.


The Spelling Bee is a major fundraiser for the Fox Valley Literacy. A nonprofit organization whose mission is "to improve peoples' lives and build community by providing and coordinating literacy services." The Fox Valley is home to immigrants from all over the world. English language skills are essential for them to become contributing members of our community.
Although the event is intended to be fun and light-hearted, the cause is serious. Nearly one-in-ten Fox Valley adults have significant literacy needs. Your
tax-deductible contribution will go a long way towards meeting that need and building a more literate community.
While English Language Learning is an essential and large part of Fox Valley Literacy's service, we also help many native English-speakers with their reading and writing skills. Since Fox Valley Literacy is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, your contributions are tax deductible.
The 2011 Spelling Bee's theme was Magic Spell! We had a great time at the Bee and look forward to next years! A huge thank you to MC John McFadden and judges Ron Toshner and Peter Kelly.
